Pelican Pool & Spa Hoist Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the Pelican Pool Hoist suitable for?
It is suitable for people who require supported transfers for pool or spa access, including those with disability, limited mobility, injury or higher support needs.
Can the Pelican Pool Hoist be used for both pools and spas?
Yes. The suitability of hoist location is based on the site layout and installation position. Our Pelican Pool Hoists have been used for pools (commercial and residential), spas and hydrotherapy environments as well as natural water environments where solid platforms are available for compliant installation.
Previous installation sites have included public and residential pools and spas, leisure centres, hotels, schools, aged care centres and theme parks.
Does the Pelican Pool Hoist require manual lifting?
No. The Pelican Pool Hoist is designed to reduce manual handling by providing a controlled, supported transfer into and out of the water. Powered by a 24v rechargeable battery and operated by a user-friendly hand control.
Depending on the model selected, the Pelican Plus can control both the up-and-down lifts as well as the left-and-right with the 360-degree powered rotation motor.
What seating or transfer options are available?
Options include floating slings and solid seating solutions suited to the user’s needs, as well as aquatic wheelchair, platform lift and spinal boards based on the Pelican model selected.
Is the Pelican Pool Hoist mobile or fixed?
A Pelican Pool Hoist may be installed as a fixed system or configured for mobile, multi-location use based on site-appropriate positioning.
Many aquatic centres have mobile systems for ease of use in multiple locations. This allows them to cater to customer demands which increases accessibility across their entire venue and multiple pools and spas.
How do I know if my pool is suitable?
Para Mobility can help confirm suitability and recommend a configuration. Don't hesitate to call and speak to our friendly team on 1300 444 600 and we can help guide you.
What maintenance is required?
Regular inspections and servicing help ensure safe operation and product longevity. Routinely wipe down all surfaces of the hoist, using fresh water (not chlorinated). This will minimise the potential build-up of corrosion or rust like symptoms such as tea staining. Our full maintenance guide is available here.
Is the Pelican Pool Hoist Australian made?
Yes. The Pelican Pool Hoist is proudly designed and manufactured in Australia by Para Mobility. Being Australian made allows us to maintain strict quality control, ensure compliance with local standards, and design solutions specifically suited to Australian pools, conditions and accessibility requirements.
Can I use NDIS funding?
