Most users of the IBIS operate it with just one caregiver, however this is dependant on the participant and their specific needs.

The participant is positioned with the sling between them and the wheelchair. The sling can stay in place once the participant is seated in the car until they reach their destination, at which point they can attach the sling buckles to their chest pieces and be prepared to exit the vehicle. The sling can be removed during transport as desired by the participant.

The bracket, IBIS hoist, and sling weigh a total of approximately 18kg together.

We can provide a high back sling for participants that need additional upper body support. We recommend a trial to ensure it will suit your specific requirements.

The IBIS is powered by the car’s auxiliary power socket via the cable included as standard. A battery operated kit is available as an optional extra and a handy back-up to have on hand.

Unfortunately USB is only 5v with a max of 0.5Amps and cannot power the IBIS. A battery operated kit is available as an optional extra.

A custom sling that specifically fits the chest piece is included. For safety purposes it is not recommended to use a sling which may not be fit for purpose.

Yes, you will require the assistance or a carer or family member to help enter and exit the vehicle.

The IBIS can be used on any door of most car makes and models, but this is dependant on the gap between the hinges not exceeding the extremities of 250mm -410mm. To ensure the vehicle is suitable it is always best to organise a demo.
