This is a question we get asked on a daily basis by Customers… Why isn’t my local aquatic centre accessible?
There can be Budget barriers, Community barriers, lack of education in some instances or even a belief there are not enough people who would use accessible equipment in the community or suburb.
Well, what we have learnt in our 38 years specialising in Aquatic Access & Inclusion is ‘If you build it, they will come!’
Over the last 5 years particularly, Para Mobility has been working very closely with a range of Aquatic Organisations, Councils, Access Consultants to ensure hundreds of Aquatic facilities across the country are starting the process to get accessible or help in getting more accessible!
We engage with the community Access & Inclusions committees or Architects & Access Consultants from the planning phases many years out to building. We can then help implement what type of access equipment is required to enable the community in that areas, with equipment such as Pool Hoists, Platform lifts, Aquatic Wheelchairs, Accessible Change rooms with Ceiling hoists and Adult support change tables and even Pool Steps to allow easier access in & out of the water.
A recently filmed case study with one of our lovely customers Bianca and her son Ace, really demonstrates what good equipment and an accessible aquatic facility can enable for People, a whole Family and a Community.
Not sure on next steps or where to start? We’ve been doing this for 38 years, please give us a call on 1300 444 600 or email on sales@paramobility.com.au for some help in working out a short or long term access plan.
Water represents freedom, a buoyant escape from the confines of life, with the right technique, equipment & belief, you’re halfway there!
