Congratulations to BlueFit Group and the team at Oran Park Leisure Centre, winners of the Accessibility Award at the 2026 ARI NSW Awards of Excellence.
Para Mobility was proud to sponsor and present the award, which recognised the centre’s Community Engagement Strategy Action Plan and its commitment to making recreation more accessible.
For people living with disability, a visit to a leisure centre can involve considerable planning. Access into the building, suitable changing facilities, entering the water and the availability of support can all influence whether someone feels confident to participate.
Oran Park Leisure Centre addresses these practical considerations through features including accessible parking, ramp and lift access, zero-depth pool entries, an aquatic wheelchair and accessible changing facilities. The centre also welcomes service animals and provides free entry for eligible carers and companions. Together, these provisions help more people enjoy the centre alongside family, friends and their wider community.
The award’s recognition of a community engagement strategy highlights another important part of accessibility: connecting with people. Accessible spaces only reach their potential when people know what is available and feel welcome to use it.
For Para Mobility, supporting this award is an opportunity to celebrate the teams helping turn inclusive intentions into everyday participation. BlueFit and Oran Park Leisure Centre deserve recognition for keeping accessibility on the agenda and working towards a more welcoming recreation environment.
Congratulations to everyone involved in this achievement. Your work helps create more opportunities for people to get active, build confidence and experience the enjoyment of community recreation.
